Lifeguard chair for end of summerUNOFFICIAL END OF SUMMER

For many families, Labor Day weekend is the last chance for a quick trip to the beach or mountains, and then it’s back to school and fall sports. Here at the farm, it is also the time we wish our summer interns well as they return to college.  We wish you and your family a relaxing and safe Labor Day weekend.

The following is a thank you note we recently received from one of our summer interns.

Dear Dr. Joe Jurgielewicz:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the Jurgielewicz Company for having me as a poultry science intern this summer. I sincerely enjoyed working for your company and learned so much about the poultry industry.

My experience at JJS has been invaluable as I expand my knowledge in my field of study.  The variety of things I’ve learned and applied regarding food/poultry science, immunology, genetics, microbiology, poultry nutrition, food packaging, food safety, and logistics will put me above the majority of other Food Science students at Penn State and enable me to excel in the classroom. This internship allowed me to develop skills in research, statistical analysis, problem solving, and Ag management and will help me as I progress in agriculture.

I cannot thank you enough for the opportunities that you have provided me with. It was a pleasure conversing with you in Middlebury, Indiana in July and I appreciate the dinner that you provided me with.  I would also like to thank Dr. Zack Lowman and Dr. Jim Jurgielewicz for being such a positive influence on me. Their leadership skills, good work ethic, positive morale, and willingness to help are qualities that are found in few employees in today’s workforce. I am grateful for the example that they have set for me and will carry it forward anywhere my career path takes me.

I wish you and your company much success in the future. I will forever be a consumer and endorse your products to my fellow classmates and colleagues. I look forward to keeping in contact with you and your company throughout the years.

Respectfully,

Mitchell Hoysock
