Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays from the Jurgielewicz Flock!
2022 was a year of many accomplishments, but it wasn’t without its challenges.
An unexpected challenge this year at Joe Jurgielewicz & Son included an outbreak of avian influenza (bird flu) in May and June. We are recovering from this and will be back to normal production in 1Q2023 thanks to the great work and commitment of all our family, employees, growers, round-the-clock veterinarians, and full-time duck welfare specialist. The steps we quickly took helped protect against an even further outbreak among flocks.
Even with our challenges, we have started the initial phases and construction of a massive processing plant expansion that will increase capacity to meet the high demand for duck. Due to everyone’s commitment and help, we are well underway to complete this expansion on time in 2023. With the addition of several new grower barns, we continue to expand our flock and anticipate the year ahead to be one of significant growth.
The sales team continues to stretch their wings reaching new domestic and international markets while meeting the demand from loyal clients. Our marketing focus has been on local farmers looking to raise ducks with us so we can increase supply to further meet demand and plant output. Maintaining high-quality standards to consistently deliver the tastiest duck and grow relationships with our clients is a priority. This drive, combined with the loyalty of our clients, is crucial to future growth and success, and 2023 promises to be a great year for our growers, clients, and employees.
As 2022 ends, we express our sincerest appreciation to our employees, clients, partners and vendors. We look forward to working with all of you in the new year as we celebrate 90 years of Jurgielewicz duck farming. We wish each of you and your families a blessed Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday season!
